Update, Nov. 21, 2023 at 9:55 PM:

Charlie Wilson “is in wonderful spirits and great health,” according to his publicist. Mr. Wilson just got off Instagram Live where he announced he has a new single coming out in December.

According to a statement from Wilson’s rep:

“Charlie just got off IG live where he was in wonderful spirits and great health! He has a new single coming out in December, will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on his 71st birthday, January 29th 2024 and sold out the Hollywood Bowl in July. He danced and performed for hours in wonderful shape.”

On Monday, Nov. 20, it was reported that Wilson was not doing well after undergoing back surgery. But that was fake news.

The 70-year-old Tulsa native posted an update on his Twitter/X page on Monday that read: “Repeat after me #ImBlessed.”

Wilson was the lead singer of The Gap Band with his brothers. The trio were famous for their hit songs “Outstanding”, “Party Train”, “Yearning for Your Love”, “Burn Rubber on Me”, “You Dropped a Bomb on Me”, “Humping” and “Oops Upside Your Head.”

Wilson’s solo album, Bridging the Gap (2000), scored his first No. 1 Billboard Urban Adult Contemporary single, “Without You.”

His third studio album, Charlie, Last Name Wilson, was released by Jive Records on August 23, 2005. The album debuted and peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200 with production by R. Kelly, will.i.am, Justin Timberlake, T-Pain, KayGee, Terence “Tramp-Baby” Abney, and more.

Fans flooded Wilson’s Twitter/X timeline requesting updates on Monday afternoon.
