Actress Raven-Symoné announced that her younger brother, Blaize, passed away in November from colon cancer.
She mentioned her brother’s passing while acknowledging her 38th birthday on Instagram on December 10.
“Thank you [for] all the love yesterday. It was felt beyond. Hard to fully celebrate knowing that I’m here and he is not,” she wrote in a social media post.
In a video message shared on her Instagram page, she said:
“It was a little bittersweet for me to be honest, because last month I lost my brother, Blaize. He was battling colon cancer for about two years and he is in a better place now. He’s loved and missed and the emotions that have been weaving in and out — of my body and mind and my family — have been a roller coaster.”
Blaize was Raven-Symoné’s only sibling. He was six years younger than her
Blaize was the only son of Lydia Gaulden and Christopher Pearman. Raven-Symoné is their only daughter. In an interview on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, Raven refused to say whether her parents were still together. “We don’t talk about personal business.”
Blaize regularly showed off their sibling bond
Blaize often posted about his sister on his Instagram page. In one photo of Raven sleeping in 2019, Blaize wrote: “You know you getting old, when you are sleeping and there are free drinks to be had!!! Happy Birthday @ravensymone embarrassing photos are the best!!!”
