A Houston woman who was charged with theft after she raised $42,000 on GoFundMe for a fake assault turned herself in and has posted $10,000 bond.
Roda Osman, 33, went viral last year after she claimed a man hit her with a brick for rejecting his advances outside a Houston nightclub.
Osman raised over $42,000 on GoFundMe for her “medical expenses.”
However, police reviewed surveillance video and determined she lied about the alleged attack.
An arrest warrant was issued for Osman after she failed to turn herself in on January 18.
Twitter/X bloggers found Osman in Jamaica where she claimed she was on vacation.

Osman turned herself in to Houston police on Tuesday, Jan. 23. She appeared in a Harris County courtroom on Tuesday and posted $10,000 bond.
Authorities say Osman also raised around $40,000 with a similar scam in Minneapolis in 2020.
Osman, a native of Somalia, is accused of scamming sympathizers “with the same narrative of a ‘black man hitting her.'”
Her next court date is scheduled for March 5.
