R&B singer Monica spent the New Year in a Houston-area hospital after she appeared to pass out at a concert on Saturday night, Dec. 30. She is still hospitalized and her condition is unknown.

In a video obtained by TMZ, Monica appeared to collapse into a crew member’s arms by the side of the stage.

Black Twitter/X erupted with speculation and rumors about her collapse. Some fans guessed that she was pregnant or dehydrated.

“The Houston streets are talking! They’re saying Monica left in an ambulance after passing out by the stairs. They say she came out late; 10:35 and people were walking out by 11:05. Concertgoers do say something seemed off.”

There are reports that Monica has not been herself lately. Her performance at London’s Wembley Arena last month was described as “lackluster” (see video).

There are rumors that Monica passed out at another show recently.

Fans speculated that Monica had a heart attack since the “So Gone” singer discussed her health struggles, including mitral valve prolapse, in the past.

Mitral valve prolapse is a disease of the valve between the two left chambers of the heart. It is harmless (no symptoms) in most people who have the condition. But it can be fatal if the valve causes blood to leak (mitral regurgitation).

Mitral regurgitation can weaken the heart muscle over time and lead to heart attack or death.

Monica, 43, was hospitalized decades ago with high blood pressure. In an interview with Huff Post in 2016, she discussed a medical incident that led to her hypertension diagnosis at age 18.

Mo’ recalled nearly losing consciousness while performing “Angel of Mine” during a concert in Washington D.C.

“Everything in front of me basically began to go from color to black-and-white, fading in and out,” she said.

“I walked to the side of the stage to ask for help and collapsed into one of our staff people’s arms.”

She was hospitalized in the D.C. area for nearly a month while doctors tried to determine the cause of her near-collapse.

Last month, Monica stunned fans by revealing her “heartbreak” over incarcerated rapper and longtime boyfriend, C-Murder.

The rapper, born Corey Miller, is serving a life sentence for the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas in 2009.

Monica is currently in a relationship with Chris Brown’s manager Anthony “Ant Tha Ladies Man” Wilson, according to eurweb.com.

Monica is mom to sons Rodney, 19, and Romelo, 16, who she shares with her ex-fiancé Rodney “Rocko” Hill. She also shares 10-year-old daughter Laiyah with former NBA star Shannon Brown whom she divorced in 2019 after nine years of marriage.

The Grammy-Winning singer was on tour in Houston when she collapsed on Saturday. Her next concert stop is scheduled for Tallahassee, Florida on January 13.

The Atlanta native and mother-of-three will perform at State Farm Arena in the ATL on Feb. 13.
