A judge set bail at $750,000 for Tupac Shakur murder suspect Duane “Keefe D” Davis on Tuesday.
If Davis makes bail, he will be released on house arrest with strict conditions.
The former Compton Crips gang leader is accused of orchestrating the murder of the popular rapper in Las Vegas in 1996.
Davis, 60, was indicted by a grand jury in September. He has remained in the Clark County Detention Center since his arrest.
A Clark County judge set bail for Davis after he was previously denied bond.
Davis will serve house arrest until his upcoming murder trial.
His attorney had argued that Davis was not a danger to the public and should be released.
However, prosecutors opposed his release, citing his violent history.
Tupac Shakur’s murder was a cold case for 27 years.
Las Vegas Metro Police Lt. Jason Johansson said Davis was “the leader and shot caller” of the drive-by.
Johansson said cold case detectives decided to “take a last run at this case” after Davis admitted to his role in the murder in his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend.
In a DJ Vlad interview and in his book, Davis bragged that he provided the gun that killed Tupac.
Davis believed he was untouchable after previously cooperating with authorities.
