GoFundMe donations continue to pour in for “9-1-1” star Farah “Cocoa” Brown who lost her Fayetteville, Ga. home in a devastating fire.
Brown, 51, and her 12-year-old son, Phoenix, barely escaped the flames that swept through their 5-bedroom, 6-bath house on Sunday.
The blaze may have started when a lit candle fell onto some clothes in a bedroom on the second floor of the house.
Brown grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to put out the flames, but the fire spread quickly.
The Fayette County Department of Fire & Emergency Services confirmed they responded to a fire at a home on Mountain Laurel Way, around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Firefighters abandoned their efforts to put out the blaze and pulled all fire personnel out of the house before it collapsed. Only the exterior walls were left standing.
Brown lost everything in the blaze. Zillow estimated the home’s value at $640,000 before the fire.
A GoFundMe account started by friends raised nearly $65,000 by Thursday morning.
A friend wrote on GoFundMe:
“Today, our community was shaken by the devastating news of Cocoa Brown and her son Phoenix losing their home in a fire. Cocoa, a beacon of joy in our lives through her incredible comedy, now faces an unimaginable challenge as she and her son must rebuild their lives from scratch.”
