Police arrested an attorney in the YSL RICO case against rapper Thug and other YSL defendants.
Attorney Nicole Fegan was arrested on gang-related charges in Gwinnett County, Ga. on Friday afternoon. She paid a $40,000 bond and was released from the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, around 10 p.m. on Friday.
Fegan faces charges of participating in criminal street gang activity and tampering with evidence, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
She is accused of contacting a shooting suspect and tipping him off about the investigation.
Fegan’s arrest is based on information that she contacted a suspect involved in the shooting of two men at Williams Street and Baker Street in Northwest Atlanta on Sept. 27, 2022.
One of the shooting victims died, according to police.
Authorities said Fegan was not representing the suspect as an attorney when she called and advised him to “dispose of his phone”.
According to police, Fegan told the suspect that she had learned of active warrants for his arrest during a preliminary hearing related to the shooting.
Fegan represented Tenquarius Mender in the YSL RICO trial. She successfully severed his case from the main case last year after filing for maternity leave.
Twitter/X users responded to Fegan’s arrest with “Free YSL Nicole” memes on Friday.
In videos on her Instagram page, Fegan wears hoodies and speaks in Ebonics slang or a “blaccent” to relate to her majority Black clients from the hood.
In one video, Fegan recalled encountering a man at a gas station. The man told Fegan she once represented him as his defense attorney.
