Bow Wow recently opened up about his drug addiction that landed him in the hospital.
In his recent interview with The Art of Dialogue podcast, Bow Wow, real name Shad Moss, recalled drinking lean, aka “syrup,” and how he nearly lost everything.
According to Bow Wow, he was drinking prescription cough medicine around the time he recorded his collaborative album with Omarion titled Face Off in 2007.
“I was sipping lean,” he said. “I was sipping so much syrup. I said this after Mac Miller died. I spoke on this sh*t. I was drinking that sh*t like crazy. If you go back and watch ‘The Road to Platinum’ series on BET, you’ll see so many white Styrofoam cups. I was losing my f***ing mind. That lean sh*t had me f***ed up. I was just always irritated.”

According to Bow Wow, fellow rapper Lil Wayne gave him a “baby bottle” full of lean.
Eventually, Bow Wow collapsed following a performance while on tour with Chris Brown.
“We were on our tour, I was co-headlining with Chris Brown and the opening night was in Cincinnati and when I got off stage, I collapsed,” Bow Wow said. “I went straight to Cincinnati University Hospital. My stomach was so fucked up that I ended up going back home to Atlanta after the first show.”
The 36-year-old rapper continued, “I’m sitting in the hospital not knowing what the fuck going on, and I get back home and the shit gets worse. I’m throwing up, I’m shivering in the bed, I’m sweating, I’m going through it…I didn’t know I was having withdrawals. That’s how much lean I was consuming.”
The father of 2 has dated Angela Simmons, Kiyomi Leslie, Erica Mena, Ciara, Lauren London, Keyshia Cole, Lori Harvey, Esther Baxter and more.
The rapper revealed he lost his virginity to Esther at age 15. They dated from 2002 to 2003.
The rapper had contentious relationships with his exes. He was accused of being abusive. One violent incident resulted in the arrests of Bow Wow and his ex, Kiyomi (pictured).
“He beat me while I was pregnant. Punched me in my stomach and I lost my baby and still covered for him,” Kiyomi once tweeted.
Erica Mena (pictured) said Bow Wow once “broke Ciara’s finger years ago. So this been going on.”
Ciara and Bow Wow dated from 2004 to 2006. He revealed on Growing up Hip Hop: Atlanta in February 2018 that they were engaged.
“I was engaged to Ciara and I was engaged to Erica,” he told viewers.
