Business is booming for a Black-owned bakery in San Jose, California after Tesla canceled a $16,000 order at the last minute.

Voahangy Rasetarinera, the owner of The Giving Pies, says business is booming after Tesla canceled a large order.

Lines are wrapped around the block for Rasetarinera’s freshly baked pies.

Last week, she took to Instagram to put Tesla on blast.

Rasetarinera said Tesla placed an order for 2,000 mini pies for a Black History Month party.

Rasetarinera never received payment, despite Tesla’s contact person calling to double the order.

The next time her Tesla contact reached out, it was to cancel the large order at the last minute.

Because Tesla never paid the invoice, Rasetarinera was not able to recover the $2,000 cancellation fee.

Rasetarinera said Tesla snubbed a Black-owned company during Black History Month. “It felt like we didn’t matter,” she wrote.

After her story went viral, Musk took to social media to say he would make good on the debt.

“Just hearing about this,” he said in a post on Twitter/X, in response to a local news story.

“Will make things good with the bakery. People should always be able to count on Tesla trying its best.”

Tesla even placed a new order for 3,600 mini pies, but Voahangy is too busy to take the order.

“Unfortunately, I can not do their catering event because with all the business that we got, we depleted our stock,” she said.

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan said the line was wrapped around the block when he stopped in to buy a pie.
