When former President Trump launched his limited edition golden sneakers for $399, Fat Joe was among the first to score a pair.

Trump surprised sneakerheads when he made an unexpected stop at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia to launch his new line of sneakers on Feb. 17.

One man at Sneaker Con paid $9,000 for an autographed pair of Trump’s high-top sneakers.

Only 1,000 pairs of the golden “Never Surrender High-Top Sneaker,” were available on Trump’s online store.

Rapper Fat Joe defended the newest addition to his sneaker collection.

In a livestream video on Tuesday, Fat Joe said, “Why? If you collect art, do you really know what [Jean Michel] Basquiat was into? You love the art, so you get it.”

He continued: “I had to get my hands on Trump’s [sneakers].”

Joe emphatically denied that he’s a “Trumper.” He said he would never vote for Trump.

“I have thousands and thousands of sneakers,” he added. “I gotta get my hands on them… I’m a sneaker collector, so I had to find these.”

“I don’t know what none of these guys did,” he said, referring to artists. “I collect sneakers! The rarer, the better.”

A few of the sneakers sold on eBay for thousands of dollars.

Joe said he didn’t pay $399 for the sneakers, which will be worth a lot more one day.

“No, I didn’t pay for these sneakers. Sorry… they knew I had to have them. ‘Cause I’m the biggest [collector] in the game. It’s what I do is collect.”
