Rapper Latto walked back her retirement claims after releasing her latest album titled Big Mama. The album features Doja Cat, GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Mariah The Scientist, and her baby daddy 21 Savage.

Latto, 27, came out of retirement in a new interview with Nadeska Alexis for Apple Music.

The rapper was asked about her retirement announcement. She blamed her “retirement” on postpartum depression.

“Remember when we was talking about postpartum depression, good days, bad days?” she said. “That was definitely not one of the good days. Experiencing postpartum for the first time, you don’t know what to expect? I kind of underestimated it. That was just one of those days where I was at home and overwhelmed with the album.”

Latto admitted having her first child hit her harder than she anticipated. She misspoke when she said Big Mama was her retirement album.

“I was going through it that day,” she said. “Today’s a good day. I wouldn’t say I’m retiring today. Talk to me next week again, I might say, ‘No, that sh*t was for real.’ So, I don’t know. I’m going through it. I crashed. It is what it is.”

Alexis told her that “it will happen again,” because that’s what going through postpartum depression is like. “I’m going to try not to take it Twitter next time,” Latto laughed.

She thanked her fans for supporting her. “I apologize for the retirement tweet,” she added.
