Porsha Williams filed for divorce from Simon Guobadia just days after Bravo TV confirmed she’s returning to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

Porsha filed for divorce on Thursday in Atlanta, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

But bloggers who know the couple say the divorce is a plot line for upcoming season 16 of RHOA.

Simon and Porsha just returned to the U.S. after vacationing in Costa Rica.

“Yes we are crazy in love,” Porsha captioned a selfie with Simon. “I know it’s fast but we are living life each day to its fullest. I choose happiness every morning and every night.”

Simon arrived in the United States on a visitor’s visa in the 1980s. He overstayed his visa but tried to gain citizenship by marrying U.S. citizen, Falynn Pina.

However, the Immigration and Naturalization Service determined the marriage was not real, and initiated deportation proceedings.

According to court documents, Simon voluntarily departed the U.S., but he returned using a six-month work visa.

Simon was arrested on bank and credit card fraud charges, prompting the government to initiate deportation proceedings again.

According to Yahoo! News, Simon allegedly obtained a green card using a different identity.

He applied for a Special Agricultural Worker (SAW) immigration program and failed to reveal his criminal history. The green card was approved, which allowed him to stay in the United States under a false identity.

Simon tried to apply for citizenship status. However, the government refused to approve his application. They said “his temporary resident status was unlawfully granted.”

Court documents show that his first application for citizenship was denied back in July 2022. He filed again in March 2023, and asked the government to “vacate the denial.”

Simon blamed the U.S. government for not deporting him 30+ years ago.

He has 8 children by various women. Porsha has a daughter named Pilar McKinley by ex-fiance Dennis McKinley.
