The trailer for the long-awaited “Wizard of Oz”-inspired fantasy musical “Wicked, Part I” aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Wicked Part I stars pop singer Ariana Grande as the Good Witch Glinda and actress Cynthia Erivo as the wicked Elphaba.

Elphaba is a green-skinned woman framed by the Wizard of Oz. She goes on to become the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked is the first of a two-part feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical.

Wicked Part I is set for release on Thanksgiving Day 2024. Part II will be released in 2025.

Wicked also stars Ariana’s boyfriend Ethan Slater, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.

Ariana and Ethan faced public backlash after they started dating on the set while he was still married to his wife.

Social media users continue to shame Ariana as a “homewrecker,” but she is unbothered by the backlash.

According to Broadway.com, Wicked tells the untold stories of Oz’s most famous witches, before Dorothy got lost in Kansas and dropped in.

The film follows Elphaba from birth to a swanky college and her journey to eventually becoming “wicked.”

Elphaba is a woke political activist who fights injustice and discovers Oz’s dark secrets.

Production for Wicked began in 2019, but it was delayed due to the COVID pandemic in 2020.

During the film’s brief hiatus, Cynthia Erivo (left) and longtime girlfriend Lena Waithe tied the knot in a private civil ceremony.

Wicked is the first major production to be filmed at the newly completed Sky Studios in London, England.
