Barbra Streisand is being dragged on social media for asking Melissa McCarthy about taking a weight-loss drug.

In a now-deleted Instagram comment on Monday, Streisand, 82, asked McCarthy “did you take Ozempic?”

The comment was posted under a photo McCarthy shared of her and choreographer Adam Shankman outside the Centre Theatre Group Gala in LA on Sunday. The slimmed-down comedienne wore a mint green dress and jacket. She accessorized her outfit with towering disco platform boots.

McCarthy captioned the image: “Pastels only to honor the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this fella @adamshankman.” She added: “Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage.”

Streisand hopped in the comment section and wrote: “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?”

Fans were outraged by the rude Ozempic comment, and the fact that Streisand didn’t put a period between the sentences.

One Reddit user wrote: “I’m not above slapping the elderly, where/when do you need me.”

Others noted that Streisand is elderly, so she must have dementia.

One person wrote: “Good lord, this is the type of thing my Aunty Barbara would post on someone’s Facebook picture.”

Another person added: “She probably thinks public posts are private messages to her.”

Reps for McCarthy and Streisand have not responded to requests for comment from Business Insider.
