Stylish actress Janelle Monáe attended the Thom Browne Dinner at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, California on Thursday. She was dressed in a black pantsuit with matching overcoat designed by Thom Browne.
The dinner celebrated the exclusive Thom Browne Collection at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Janelle confused some fans when she came out as pansexual in 2018 and nonbinary in 2022.
“Most people don’t understand what’s going on in my brain,” Janelle told Rolling Stone magazine. “I’ve changed my whole f***ing lifestyle.”
“I just don’t see myself as a woman, solely,” she said during an appearance on Jada Pinkett-Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ web series.
The pop singer caused a sensation when she was rumored to be in a romantic relationship with Mexican-Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Lupita recalled how they first met and their first embrace at the Met Gala in 2014. Lupita had just won an Oscar for her role in ’12 Years a Slave.’
“This world is still extremely new to me and unbelievable,” she said. “Janelle came up to me and just gave me the realest hug.”
Lupita, 41, suggested that Janelle’s warm embrace awakened something inside her.
“I think we may have swayed to the music. She was just like, ‘I’m so proud of you, and just thank you for being you.'”
“She has magnetism that they were obviously picking up on,” Nyong’o told Rolling Stone. “[Janelle] is that enigmatic. I was not surprised. And I don’t mind being associated with her in any capacity.”
Janelle, Kylie Minogue, and Diplo are set to headline the OUTLOUD Music Festival 2024. The annual Gay Pride festival takes place Friday, May 31, through Sunday, June 2, 2024 in West Hollywood Park.
The 10-time Grammy-nominated singer will also be a special guest for a fireside chat at POSSIBLE, an event that brings together influential marketing and business leaders.
POSSIBLE takes place at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach on April 15-17.
Janelle was recently honored as the Suicide Prevention Advocate of the Year by Trevor Project.
