Calvin LeBrun, known professionally as DJ Mister Cee, died at age 57 on Wednesday, April 10. His cause of death is unknown.
Mister Cee’s death was first reported by former Yo! MTV Rap’s Ed Lover.
Cee is best known as rap legend Big Daddy Kane’s DJ. And he’s credited with discovering rap icon the Notorious B.I.G.
Mister Cee worked on Big Daddy Kane’s debut album in 1988. He also associate executive produced the Notorious B.I.G.’s 1994 debut album, Ready to Die.
Later, Mister Cee worked as a radio personality for New York’s radio station 103.9 and Hot 97 morning show Ebro in the Morning.
Mister Cee made headlines on gossip blogs following multiple arrests for soliciting s3x from male prostitutes and transgender people.
After resigning from Hot 97, Mister Cee returned to the morning show to explain a viral video that ruined his career. He denied being gay when asked by Hot 97 radio host Ebro Darden.
“Have I lied about getting sexual fellatio in a car with a transsexual, yes,” Mister Cee said. “I have lied about that… Do I consider myself gay? No,” he said, before breaking down in tears.
Most recently, Cee could be heard on 94.7 The Block and Rock The Bells radio on SiriusXM.
