NYC’s mayor is considering revoking Sean Combs’s key to the city. Mayor Eric Adams says he and a committee voted to revoke Combs’s key to the city after disturbing video went viral this weekend.
Adams added that this will be the first time NYC has revoked a key to the city.
Combs faced backlash after CNN aired exclusive surveillance video that shows him kicking and stomping former girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
The incident happened at the now closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City in 2016.
Adams presented Combs with a key to the city in Times Square last year. The mayor declared September 15, 2023 as “Diddy Day” in New York City.
“The bad boy of entertainment is getting the key to the city from the bad boy of politics!” Mayor Adams said as he presented a giant key to Combs.
At the time, Adams said Combs was the “embodiment of the New York City attitude.”
Combs thanked Adams and shouted, “Diddy finally has the key to the city!”
“This city has given me triumphs, life lessons and love,” Combs said. “Today, I accept this key not just for me, but for every dreamer, every hustler, every artist, and every kid from New York who dares to dream big.”
He then hopped in a chauffeured limo and stood up through the sunroof shouting, “Diddy has the key to the city!”
Mayor of NYC Eric Adams says he and a committee are considering revoking Diddy's key to New York City and expresses that this will be the first time they have had to revoke a person's key to the city.
