The Biden campaign says President Biden will not step down following his debate with former President Trump on Thursday.

CNN reports Biden is moving on and he is “committed” to a second debate with former President Trump on September 10.

During Thursday’s debate Biden seemed to lose his train of thought and trailed off while answering a question about his border policy.

Trump responded: “I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don’t think he knows what he said either.”

The Biden campaign insisted the President was sick with a cold.

But Democrat leaders and their allies called on Biden to withdraw as the Democratic nominee so they can replace him.

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s name is at the top of the list to replace Biden if he steps down.

But Newsom dismissed talk that he will replace Biden. “I think it’s unhelpful, and I think it’s unnecessary,” Newsom told MSNBC after the debate.

Newsom added: “[Biden] never gives up. He’s never giving up, fighting for us, fighting for democracy, our future kids, our grandkids. So we’ve got to have his back in this respect.”

“No, our nominee is Joe Biden,” Newsom said as he was swarmed by reporters Thursday night. “I’m looking forward to voting for him in November.”
