Gayle King rushed to defend pop star Justin Timberlake after his DWI arrest in the Hamptons earlier this week.
Timberlake, 43, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor on Monday. He was arraigned Tuesday morning and released on bond.
Despite his history of alcoholism, King defended the pop singer, saying he’s a “great guy” who made a “mistake.”
“Justin Timberlake is a really, really great guy,” she said on “CBS Mornings.”
“Listen, this is clearly a mistake,” she added. “I bet nobody knows it more than he. He’s not an irresponsible person, he’s not reckless, he’s not careless. Clearly, this is not a good thing. He knows that.”
King, 69, added, “Driving drunk there’s never any excuse for that ever.”
As expected, social media dragged King for defending her privileged pal.
This is 1 of the reasons why Gayle King show on CNN wasn’t a huge success and it was canceled because she can defend indefensible. There’re no excuses for anyone who is is old enough to know better like Justin Timberlake. He should not receive a slap on the wrist for his actions.

I can't stand Gayle King, but she could be right about Justin. He could have simply made a terrible mistake. We all should be grateful that no one was hurt because of his drunk driving. Hopefully Justin takes this incident as a good lesson and gets himself sorted.
