NFL legend Michael Irvin revealed his wife of 34 years, Sandy, has early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Irvin, 58, confirmed his wife’s diagnosis in an interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Tuesday.

Irvin revealed his wife had experienced symptoms of the disease for over five years.

He said Sandy, 58, has “trouble” walking and talking, and she requires the assistance of a live-in caretaker.

Irvin said he never considered putting her in a nursing home.

“If anyone has earned the right to stay in her house, MY WIFE HAS!!!,” Irvin said. “That I shall honor. No matter what it takes.”

Irvin is best known for his 12-year career as a wide receiver with the Dallas Cowboys.

The sports analyst recently settled a lawsuit with the NFL Network who removed him from covering Super Bowl LVII after a woman claimed Irvin made sexual advances toward her.
