Former President Donald Trump responded to rumors that Michelle Obama will be the Democratic nominee in November.
Polls show that Michelle Obama is the only candidate who could challenge Trump in November.
Trump responded to the idea of Michelle Obama running, saying he “wouldn’t be worried” about it.”
On Sunday, President Joe Biden announced he will not seek re-election. He endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a tribute posted on Medium.com, former President Barack Obama praised Biden, but he did not endorse Harris.
“Joe Biden has been one of America’s most consequential presidents, as well as a dear friend and partner to me,” Obama wrote. “We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges.”
Many people took Obama’s statement to mean he is not endorsing Harris. Political pundits say Obama is holding out until the Democratic National Convention, where Michelle Obama will announce her candidacy.
Trump was asked about this possibility during an interview on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime, which aired on Monday.
“[The Democrats are] gonna cook up something at the [Democratic] convention. They might throw Gretchen Whitmer at you, they might throw Gavin Newsom at you, they might throw Michelle Obama at you,” Watters said.
Trump responded: “I wouldn’t be worried about any of them. Look, they have bad policies—forget about the people. They have an open-border policy, they have a high-tax policy, they have a bad military policy. The whole world is going woke—their world is going woke.”
He continued: “The whole thing is a mess. If we don’t win this election, we may never have another election. I’m telling you, this may be our last election.”
The Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago next month.
Joe Biden has officially dropped out of the race, but Trump says he’s not worried about whoever ends up taking his place.
