Sha’Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas – running in the rain – led Team USA to Olympic gold in the 4×100 relay final in Paris, France on Friday.

Richardson, 24, won her first Olympic gold medal after her disappointing suspension from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (which was held in 2021).

Richardson fell short of winning the gold medal in the women’s 100m race on Aug. 3. She placed second behind Julien Alfred of St. Lucia. Alfred won the first ever Olympic medal for St. Lucia.

Atlanta native Gabby Thomas, 27, won her first gold medal in the 200m race on Tuesday night.

Friday’s race was a redemption for Richardson who was suspended from the Tokyo Olympics for testing positive for weed.

Richardson said she smoked weed to cope with the loss of her biological mother.

America now has 10 gold medals in track & field at the Paris Olympics and 28 medals overall.
