A former supervisor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) breaks her silence after she was fired for not helping Trump supporters.

Marn’i Washington was let go after a text chain was leaked that showed she instructed hurricane relief workers not to help those with Trump signage in their yards.

Officials told the Daily Wire that Washington was let go after she told workers to skip houses with Trump flags outside.

“Avoid homes advertising Trump,” Washington allegedly wrote in a “best practices” memo.

According to the Daily Wire‘s exclusive report, the FEMA officials were working in Highlands County, Florida, in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.

At least 20 homes were bypassed by FEMA workers due to Trump signage and flags outside.

Photos shared in the report showed homes that were passed over by FEMA agents. In the notes, the agents described the homes as “not able to access property” and included explanations, such as “Trump sign no entry per leadership,” “Per leadership no stop Trump flag,” “Trump sign,” and “Trump sign, no contact per leadership.”

After the scandal went viral online, FEMA issued a statement to the New York Post.

“This employee has been terminated and we have referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel,” FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said in a statement.

But Washington accused FEMA of “lying” and making her the scapegoat of an agency wide practice.

Washington said she is “at risk” as a result of her job termination, and she has retained an attorney.

In a podcast interview with YouTuber Roland Martin, Washington said “avoidance” was FEMA’s protocol, and she’s just the scapegoat.

“FEMA preaches avoidance first, and then de-escalation. This is not isolated. This is a colossal event of avoidance,” Washington said.

“Not just in the state of Florida. You will find avoidance in the Carolinas,” she revealed, referring to Hurricane Helene that devastated parts of western North Carolina in October.

Washington says she was following FEMA protocol when she issued the controversial instructions.

She also claimed her team faced “political hostility” from Trump supporters.

“If you look at the record there is what you call a community trend… the political hostility that was encountered by my team, they just so happened to have the Trump campaign signage.”

“If we are noticing on, for example, Mary Street, and we’re greeted with unwelcomed arms or people are coming out with guns blazing screaming at us, then that’s a street we need to avoid altogether.”

Washington, a Democrat, said she did not vote in this election because she was so busy helping clean up efforts and would never have let politics interfere with her work.
