Oprah Winfrey denies receiving $1 million from Kamala Harris to arrange a town hall interview ahead of the 2024 election.
A post that went viral on social media this week claims the Harris campaign paid singer Beyoncé $10 million for a 5-minute speech at her Houston rally. Beyoncé infuriated her fans by not singing at the rally.
The post also claims Harris paid rapper Megan Thee Stallion $5 million. Singer Lizzo received $3 million; $1.8 million went to rapper Eminem, and $1 million was paid to Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah denied receiving $1 million from the Harris campaign in a video on social media. “Not true,” she told Backgrid.com. “I was paid nothing, ever.”

However, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show 2 payments of $500,000 each made to HARPO Productions, which is wholly owned by Oprah.
The FEC website notes that processing can take days for electronic filings and weeks for paper ones. That may explain why payments to Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland didn’t show up in FEC online records.
