In “I Told You So” news, rapper A$AP Rocky confirmed Rihanna is his “wife” as his felony assault trial gets underway in an L.A. this week.
The 36-year-old rapper faces charges stemming from a 2022 incident in which he allegedly shot and wounded his former friend, A$AP Relli. Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, pleaded not guilty to the charges. A judge ruled in 2023 that Rocky would stand trial in California.
On Wednesday, Judge Mark S. Arnold asked Rocky’s attorney if Rihanna should be referred to as Rocky’s wife. Joe Tacopina responded by calling the global pop star Rocky’s “common-law wife,” implying that they are living together as a married couple without the official paperwork.
“Just ‘wife’ is fine. However you’d like,” Tacopina told the judge.
But Deputy District Attorney John Lewin argued that Rihanna should only be referred to as Rocky’s wife if they’re legally married with paperwork to prove it.
The judge agreed, saying, “If they are legally married anywhere, she will be his wife. If they are not legally married anywhere, she is his significant other.”
However, according to a source, Rihanna and Rocky are legally married in her native Barbados. The “We Found Love,” singer wants her children to have parents who are legally married in the eyes of the law.
A common-law marriage is recognized as legal in New York where the couple live part-time.
Sandrarose.com was first to break the news that the pop star and the rapper were married. Rihanna and Rocky share two adorable sons, RZA, 2, and Riot Rose, born in August 2023.
Rihanna is rumored to be with child again. I’ll let you know when her third pregnancy is officially confirmed.
