Wendy Williams is speaking out in an exclusive “Breakfast Club” interview on Thursday. Wendy called into the “Breakfast Club” and spoke with her former radio co-host Charlamagne. It was her first interview since the unauthorized Lifetime documentary that gave a shocking glimpse into her life since being diagnosed with dementia.
Charlamagne said Wendy called into the show to clear the air about reports that she was “cognitively impaired” and “permanently incapacitated.”
Wendy categorically denied the reports. However, she did reveal that she was “trapped” in a treatment facility with other residents who may be impaired.
“I am not cognitively impaired. But I feel like I am in prison,” Wendy said. “I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s. There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.”
Wendy and her niece Alex, who was also on the call, said the facility is high security, and she can only make outgoing calls, meaning no one can call her. “They won’t allow you to leave or have visitors,” she said. “So you can’t even leave and take a walk if you wanted to, or take a trip or visit family members.”
“This system is broken,” Wendy said. She later revealed she is receiving treatment that amounts to “emotional abuse.”
The Breakfast Club shared a GoFundMe link requesting donations to help support Wendy’s “fight for independence.”
So far, $530 has been raised of the stated $50,000 goal.
According to documents filed by her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, in a NY court late last year, Wendy was “afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”
The revelation left her fans feeling sad and concerned for Wendy.
However, in December, Wendy was seen at her son, Kevin’s graduation in Florida. She showed no signs of cognitive decline.
Afterwards, she was spotted venting her frustration at her caretakers for leaving her expensive mobility scooter in the middle of the street.
Cell phone video shows Wendy reprimanding her employees. “And then both of you walked away leaving my sh*t in the middle of the street,” she yelled. “Just get the car… make sure it’s the right car,” she demanded.
She added: “Leaving my most precious… this [scooter] cost a f*cking mint!”
