This is why you should never dismiss a child’s complaint about a monster hiding under the bed or in the closet.
A babysitter checking under a child’s bed for a “monster” found a man hiding under the bed.
Barton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a frantic call from a residence in Great Bend, Kansas, around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Once they arrived, the babysitter told the officers she was putting the children to bed when one of them complained about a “monster” lurking under their bed.
According to a statement posted to the sheriff’s office’s Facebook, the woman checked under the bed and saw 2 eyes staring back at her in the darkness.
When she made eye contact with the man, there was a brief altercation and he tried to bolt out of the room, knocking a child over before fleeing the scene.

The man, later identified as 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr., used to live in the house, but a protection-from-abuse order was issued against him.
The protection order required that he stay away from the property, according to police.
Police searched the neighborhood but didn’t find him.
The next day, Villalobos was spotted in the area and attempted to flee, but was arrested after a brief police chase on foot, according to the statement.
He was booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer and violation of a protection from abuse order, according to the sheriff’s office.
He is being held on $500,000 bail. Police did not explain his relationship to the children.
