Aspiring rapper Young Scooter (right) reportedly died from a leg injury after fleeing from police in Atlanta.
Bailey, born Kenneth Edward Bailey, was close friends with rapper Future Hendrix (left) who signed Bailey to his Freebandz label.
Atlanta police responded to a weapon-related domestic dispute at a home on William Nye Drive in southeast Atlanta on Friday.
Neighbors reported gunshots and a woman being dragged into a home.
“When officers arrived, they knocked on the door and a male opened the door and immediately shut the door on the officers,” said Lt. Andrew Smith, commander of Atlanta’s homicide unit, in a late night press conference on Friday.
Police then set up a perimeter around the home, Fox 5 News reported. As officers surrounded the area, two men fled from the back of the residence. One of the men returned to the house. The other man, rapper Young Bailey, jumped two fences before being found injured nearby.
“He appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg,” Smith told reporters. “Officers rendered aid and he was transported to Grady Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”

Bailey’s friends said the rapper severed the femoral artery in his leg while jumping a fence. He reportedly bled to death.
Bailey, a father of 2, was best known for his mixtape Street Lottery, released in January 2013.

Friends say Bailey celebrated his 39th birthday on Friday. He was preparing to attend his star-studded birthday party tonight.
False rumors spread on social media that Bailey was killed in a shootout with police.

Lt. Smith emphasized that Bailey’s injury did not result from a police shooting. “Just to be very clear, the injury that was sustained was not via the officers on scene,” he said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called in to review the case due to false information spreading on social media that Bailey was killed by police.
