Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) hopped on TikTok to share a video confirming a TikTok account is really hers.
“I just wanted to jump on really quickly – first of all to say thank you. My staff is really excited that we are over a million. So for everyone that was trying to figure out if this is my actual account – it is,” Crockett said.
Crockett went on to say she has 2 official accounts on TikTok.
An X (Twitter) user uploaded an old photo of Crockett that shows her noticeably darker skin complexion.
“She must have the ‘Cake Soap’ filter on her phone. Because her skin looks a lot lighter,” the user wrote.
X users agreed that Jasmin’s newly-lightened skin and light eyes don’t align with her “Sista Girl” image.
One person wrote: “That skin lightening self hatred sends a bad message to younger girls looking at this idiot as accomplished.”
Another person wrote: “@JasmineForUS is so tone deaf she doesn’t realize she is turning off serious voters who want better for their families & communities.”
A third person commented: “Ion know what private school she went to, but they must have had a class on eye lashes and cake soap because she got straight A’s in that.”
