Cedric the Entertainer reacted to CBS canceling his “The Neighborhood” spin-off. The Neighborhood star and producer asked fans to “write to CBS” to prevent the cancellation of the untitled spin-off series.
The write-in campaign worked to save other CBS shows from the chopping block.
CBS recently announced its decision to cancel the spin-off, which would have centered on the show’s characters Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) and Marty (Marcel Spears).
The news upset fans who anticipated the series spin-off. Cedric, 61, told fans to channel their frustration by writing to the network.

“I want everybody to write in [to CBS], because I think people are going to see this season finale and be, like, ‘That’s a great show! Y’all should do that show!'” said Cedric, pictured with co-star Tichina Arnold.
In a recent interview with TV Line, Cedric said he “was a little disappointed, for sure.” He added: “I do recognize that we’re in a very difficult time as far as television goes.” He said networks are “not doing a lot of pilots [anymore].”

In positive news, “The Neighborhood” was renewed for its 8th and final season.
“The brilliant cast and creative team at The Neighborhood led by the incomparable Cedric the Entertainer have brought levity, laughter and poignant storylines to Monday nights for seven incredible seasons,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement.
The Neighborhood‘s Season 7 averaged 4.9 million total viewers, down 16% from Season 6.
