Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles apologized for getting “personal” with Riley Gaines after she slammed the swimmer for criticizing a transgender athlete.

Riley, a former University of Kentucky swimmer, shared a post on X about a transgender pitcher for a high school softball team that won the state championship.

Riley said Champlin Park High School’s win was “to be expected when your star player is a boy.”

Simone lashed out at Riley, calling her “truly sick” and a “loser”. She insulted Riley by comparing the swimmer’s body to a man’s.

“You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser,” Simone said in a comment on X.

Simone referred to Riley (right) losing a race against former UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas (left) at the 2022 NCAA championships. Lia Thomas is a male-bodied swimmer.

Simone continued: “You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”

She added, “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male @Riley_Gaines_.”

On Tuesday, Simone apologized and argued that she was not advocating for unfairness in women’s sports. She simply took issue with Riley for calling out a child on social media.

Women’s rights advocates lashed out at Simone on X.

An x user posted a video of Simone competing against a male gymnast who made her look like an amateur.

Another person dug up an old X post by Simone that said “ahhhh good thing guys don’t compete against girls or he’d take all the gold medals.”
