The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) teased an “exciting announcement” about CBS daytime soap opera “Beyond the Gates.”

The announcement comes as the soap’s TV ratings continue to plummet.

In a post on Instagram, the civil rights organization wrote:

“Keep up with the crew at Fairmount Crest both on and off the screen as we share exclusive footage, behind the scenes content, and interviews with the cast and crew. We have an exciting announcement we can’t wait to share with you, so follow @naacp on all platforms to be the first to know.”

“If you love #BeyondtheGates, you’ll love what we have in store for you. Stay tuned and tell a friend to follow us across all social media channels for an exciting announcement,” the organization tweeted.

Beyond the Gates was recently renewed for a second season. The first soap with a majority Black cast in 35 years generated much excitement when it premiered on CBS in February 2025.

The soap drew 5 million total viewers in March. But the ratings have plunged since then. Total viewers dwindled to 1,072,000 people for the week ending July 6, according to USTVDB.com.

CBS describes Beyond the Gates as a soap opera that is “set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty.

“But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely.”

Beyond The Gates is developed and produced by CBS Studios / NAACP venture in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter and Gamble.
