By now you’ve seen the plethora of weight-loss ads on YouTube featuring Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, and Steve Harvey. Did you know the ads are AI-generated fakes?
The YouTube ads feature Oprah hawking weight-loss products, such as the pink salt recipe. Oprah looks much younger, her skin is flawless, and her lacefront wig is laid.
In one ad, Oprah’s hand movements are jerky and her lips don’t sync with her words. She mentions her “husband” in one ad, but she’s not married.
There’s also a fake AI ad featuring morning radio host Steve Harvey hawking a product. Steve looks slim and about 20 years younger in the ad.
Oprah and Steve can make one phone call and have the ads removed. But what if Oprah and Steve are on board with the AI sorcery?
A quick Google search shows Oprah aired a TV special, titled “AI and the Future of Us: An Oprah Winfrey Special” on ABC last year.
Oprah claimed her show would demystify the technology and empower viewers to understand AI. Now her fake AI ads are everywhere.
Maybe she agreed to endorse products and appear in AI ads without leaving her home.
AI-generated ads are becoming the standard, but humans can tell when something looks off.
Expect to see more AI ads featuring celebrities who look 20 years younger.
