Rev. Al Sharpton responded to allegations made by President Donald Trump that he is among celebrities who accepted payments from former Vice President Kamala Harris for endorsements.

Rev. Sharpton appeared on Morning Joe to respond to Trump’s accusations. He accused Trump of race-baiting and he threatened to sue Trump for defamation.

Sharpton is President of the National Action Network and host of MSNBC’s PoliticsNation. When asked if he was paid for his endorsement, Sharpton said “Absolutely not.”

Sharpton said his National Action Network is considering suing Trump because the president acknowledged that Sharpton didn’t endorse Harris and that he personally never received any money.

Sharpton said Trump is trying to distract attention away from the Epstein files.

“But let’s look at the larger picture,” Sharpton said, “Donald Trump is in very serious problems around this whole question of [Jeffrey] Epstein. So, last week he was trying to flood the zone to take any pressure off of him and try to put his MAGA base back together again.”

Sharpton continued: “The fact is he said he was gonna fire the fed chief – that didn’t work. Then he went on to something about tariffs – that didn’t work. Then he decided to do what he started his political career on: he started race-baiting.”

Sharpton listed examples of Trump’s race-baiting, including releasing MLK Jr.’s assassination files last week and trying to prosecute former President Barack Obama for treason.

“The race card,” Sharpton said, “the thread here is race… it’s all about trying to get past Epstein.”
