R&B singer Mario Barrett is off the market and expecting a baby with his girlfriend, Esmeralda!
Mario, 39, shared maternity photos of his Latina girlfriend, including one that shows him kissing her growing baby bump.
Another photo shows Mario cradling Esmeralda’s baby bump in his large hands while she rocks a white maternity crop top and pencil skirt.
Esmeralda captioned the post: “Whoopsss… I ate too many brownies” with a set of emojis.
Fans flooded the comments with congratulations, but there were a few haters who highlighted Mario’s preference in women.
One person wrote on X: “What an interesting thing to see Black women crashing out on the innanet over Mario’s girlfriend and her baby bump. He doesn’t even know you, sistas!”
Another person wrote: “So the singer Mario who also supports Tory Lanez got a white woman pregnant. In other news the sky is blue.”
A third person commented: “I can’t believe Mario got that white woman pregnant.”
In an interview in 2024, Mario clarified that Esmeralda is not white, “She’s Mexican.”
Mario signed his first record deal with J Records at age 14. He released his self-titled debut album at age 17 in 2002. The album spawned the hit single “Just a Friend 2002,” which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
His second album, Turning Point, released in 2004, spawned the biggest hit single of his career, “Let Me Love You,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Let Me Love You,” penned by Ne-Yo and Scott Storch, won two Billboard Music Awards and earned Mario a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 2006.
