Former NBA star Kendrick Perkins was a guest on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Tuesday, but he probably won’t be invited back.
Kendrick made a drug-related comment that left ESPN host Elle Duncan red-faced and embarrassed.
It all started during the countdown to NBA opening night when Elle made a pun on Perkins’ nickname (Perk), saying, “You know, when you work at ESPN, talking to Kendrick is one of the Perks.”
Kendrick hit back by cracking an inside joke about Elle being a pain to work with.
“You ready for this one?” Kendrick asked her. “Oh God, OK,” she said before he cracked a joke about painkillers – Motrin and Percocet. “What you need Ibuprofen for when you can have a Perk?” he asked.
Elle fell silent for what seemed like an eternity.
Kendrick leaned back in his chair and waited for her to recover.
Even though Kendrick won’t be invited back, it was probably well worth it to give Elle Duncan a taste of her own medicine.
