Popular TikTok star Girlalala (born Maurice J. Harrison) died on November 14 during a domestic argument in a car in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The popular MtF transgender hairstylist was 21.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office charged Girlalala’s boyfriend, Shanoyd Whyte Jr, 25, with first-degree murder. He was booked into the Broward County jail without bond.

Whyte and Girlalala had been in a relationship for “several years,” according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

TikTok influencer, Girlalala, had over 235K followers on TikTok and 47.5K followers on Instagram. The TikTok page has since been deleted but the Instagram page is still active.

Girlalala’s fans include City Girls rapper JT, born Jatavia Johnson (right), who donated a total of $13,500 to a GoFundMe for funeral expenses. The GoFundMe raised $30,000.

Girlalala’s funeral will be held on December 6 in Pompano Beach, Florida. However, the Tiktoker might be buried in a suit and tie. Girlalala’s father is refusing to bury his “son” in a dress and wig.

He said fans and friends can view Girlalala in a wig on Friday, Dec. 5, but the funeral on Saturday, Dec. 6, will be for family who knew the hairstylist – “how God gave him” – as Maurice.

“Can’t even bury my son in peace,” he said in a viral video. “Y’all want to put the man in a wig! I ain’t letting no preacher stand over – ain’t no ordained, anointed preacher gon’ do that – stand over the man and preach in the wigs. Stop it! Y’all doing this for the show! Y’all ain’t worried about my son’s soul.”

He added: “Please, I ask y’all to have Friday. I’ma give the world Girlala – whatever y’all want. Girlalala – I don’t know him as that. I ain’t taking that from his followers, his crowd, none of that.”

“Y’all can have that. Put him in a wig. The viewing is open for the public! Come see him. I ain’t taking that opportunity from y’all. None of his followers, likes, none of that!

“The funeral Saturday, put my son in a Pop Smoke braids with a sharp tape or afro for the last time,” he said, referring to slain rapper Pop Smoke.

He said emphatically, “I ain’t attending no funeral with my son – that God gave to me as a boy – in no wig!

The reactions from Girlalala’s fans were mixed.

One person wrote on X (Twitter): “Unless the kid had a legal will stating otherwise you have to respect the father’s wishes. I agree with the dad. It is what it is.”

Another person wrote: “The father’s stance is clearly about honoring his child in a way he feels is authentic, but it could be very upsetting for others who cared about Girlalala and had different wishes.”

A third person commented: “This is precisely why it’s crucial to have a will before passing away. Unless you’ve documented it in writing, all arrangements are left to the discretion of your loved ones, who may have had different opinions on your decisions. Ultimately, it’s HIS child to do as he pleases.”

A 4th person tweeted: “I’m with the father! LaLa that the world got to experience will be present Friday for viewing and Saturday Maurice Harrison will be present for FAMILY! It’s really just that simple.”
