The Cleveland Browns fired head coach Kevin Stefanski on Monday following the Browns’ second consecutive losing season.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders quietly requested to interview with the Browns last week. But his request was denied.

Stefanski’s firing sparked speculation that Deion would be offered the position to coach his son Shedeur Sanders again.

Shedeur completed his first NFL season as a starting quarterback with 3 wins.

Browns insider Tony Rizzo said Deion is not in the running to coach the Browns.

“He’s got health issues. I don’t think Deion’s the guy,” Rizzo said on ESPN Cleveland‘s radio show.

The Colorado Buffaloes finished the 2025 season with a 3-9 record. Colorado recently hired Fernando Lovo as athletic director to help turn the program around.

Lovo said he wants to rebuild the football team with Coach Prime leading the way.

“With Coach Prime’s national notoriety and who he is as a person, first and foremost, and his ability to reach a lot farther than maybe some other coaches might be able to because of who he is, I think is a real advantage for us,” Lovo said at his introductory news conference on Monday.

“We want to be a global brand. It’s on us as administrators to provide him with the resources he needs, but in terms of who he is as a person and the reach that he has, it’s a really special dynamic to have and I’m excited to leverage that,” Lovo continued.
