British Actor Sir Idris Elba was convicted of breaking speed laws in London, England last June. Idris did not have a criminal record in London – until now.
Idris admitted to the speeding offense, but claimed he didn’t received an official notice from the Metropolitan Police to appear in court.
He hired specialist attorneys to fight the speeding charge for him in court.

Idris was convicted on January 22 of speeding at 28mph on his BMW electric scooter on June 21, 2025.
A judge slapped “The Wire” star with a £150 ($179.39) fine at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
He was also ordered to pay an additional £110 ($131.55) in court costs and £59 ($70.56) victim surcharge.

The evidence against the 53-year-old DJ and aspiring rapper was submitted to the court by the Metropolitan Police.
CCTV footage was played in court and showed the brawny star speeding on his scooter along Chelsea Embankment in London, in June.
A statement from the Met Police read: “An automated eligibility check was completed on the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme database (NDORS). The driver/rider, Mr Idris Elba, was ineligible for a diversionary course.”
The judge also added three points to his license.
The conviction comes a month after Idris was awarded a knighthood for his charity work in England.
