Jada Pinkett Smith will return to “A Different World” in her role as Lena James. She teased her comeback in a post on Instagram.
Last month it was confirmed that Charnele Brown and Jenifer Lewis will join Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Cree Summer and Darryl M. Bell for “A Different World” reboot on Netflix.
Now it seems Jada will also join the cast. Jada shared a selfie on Instagram that shows her standing outside a dressing room door with the words “Lena James” on a sign.
Jada captioned the post: “She back,” alongside a smiley face and the hashtag #ADifferentWorld.
Fans reacted in the comments section. “Yessssss Miss Lena James class of 1995! IKDR!” one person wrote. Other followers added, “Millennials HAVE WON,” and “Please let it be more than a cameo. Full role, por favor.”
A Different World is a spin-off of The Cosby Show. The series originally centered on Lisa Bonet as Denise Huxtable and her white friend, Marisa Tomei, as students at Hillman College, a fictional HBCU in Virginia.
Both Lisa and Marisa left the series after the 1st season.
The series aired for 6 seasons on NBC from September 24, 1987, to July 9, 1993.
Jada joined the series in season 5 as recurring character Lena James. She became a main cast member in the 6th and final season.
