Peter Thomas, ex-husband of RHOA star Cynthia Bailey, was released from federal prison last week after serving 6 months for income tax evasion.
Thomas, 64, shared a video that showed him vibing to a new T.I. track on February 26, following his release from federal prison in Miami, Florida.
Thomas was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for failure to pay over $2.5 million in employment taxes.
Prosecutors said Thomas withheld money from his employee payroll. He spent the money on plane tickets and $250,000 on designer clothes, shoes and other luxury goods.
Thomas began his 18-month sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Miami on August 1, 2025.
He is now living in a halfway house in Miami under supervision of the Miami Residential Reentry Management Office, according to reports.
Thomas is expected to remain under supervision until August 2026, followed by two years of supervised release.
His strict post-prison conditions include taking random drug tests and abstaining from alcohol. He was also ordered to pay the U.S. government $2.5 million in restitution.
Thomas’ attorney told TMZ in 2024: “Anytime there is an indication that alcohol has contributed to problems in this person’s life, they will offer treatment or monitoring to make sure this person succeeds on probation.”
Thomas took to Instagram after his sentencing to thank his lawyer for doing the best she could to defend him. He also expressed his gratitude to the judge and prosecutor for going easy on him.
“I want to thank Miss [C. Melissa] Owen, my attorney, for doing an incredible job,” he said. “I want to thank the prosecutor and the judge because they did an incredible job, and I’m thankful that they’re fair people.”
Thomas owned nightclubs, restaurants and bars in the Atlanta area, and a Bar One in Baltimore, all of which failed due to mismanagement and money troubles.
