Christina Aguilera and Beyoncé were both called out by their fans for wearing wigs and extensions in hair care ads recently.

Christina, 45, appears in a Nexxus ad discussing beauty, authenticity, and her new hair phase with Nexxus hair care products. In one ad she is seen promoting the Keraphix line to reduce damage and breakage caused by high heat.

Christina says she’s gone through many hair phases and colors including platinum blonde, black, bubblegum pink, and intense red. Despite all the damage, her hair still looks healthy. She said that’s due to using the right products.

But observers say she is wearing a platinum blonde wig in the ad, not her real hair.

Celebrities often wear wigs or hair extensions to add volume to their hair. They are always on-the-go, so wigs are a convenience that they can easily afford.

But when a celebrity promotes hair care products, fans expect authenticity and natural hair to demonstrate the effectiveness of the products they’re promoting.

One fan wrote on Reddit.com: “Sabrina Carpenter has a Redken deal, most hair ads feature extensions in some capacity and some are more obvious than others.”

Another fan wrote: “Pulling out the rapunzel wig to sell haircare is diabolical.”

A third person wrote: “Like sure but anyone acting like celebrities are actually using the products they do ads for were born yesterday.”
