Former “Family Matters” child actor Bryton James is battling his ex-wife’s demand for spousal support. “The Young and the Restless” star finalized his divorce from Jahaira James earlier this year after nearly 7 months of marriage.
According to TMZ, Bryton cited the usual “irreconcilable differences” for the divorce. He asked that Jahaira restore her last name (Myers).

The final divorce judgment was entered on March 24, 2026. The court ended its jurisdiction to award spousal support.
Now Jahaira is back in court asking for spousal support, citing the poor economy and financial instability as a professional dancer.
In her court filing, Jahaira described the instability of being a dancer, and that her income fluctuates month to month. She said her expenses are in excess of her monthly income.
She earns around $1,150 per week before taxes, while estimating that Bryton earns more than $34,000 per month. She argues she is entitled to maintain the same standard of living that she enjoyed as Mrs. Bryton James.
The marriage was James’s second. He was previously married to Ashley Leisinger from 2011 to 2014.

He previously dated Brytni Sarpy (pictured) from 2019-2024.
In a 2021 podcast interview, Bryton acknowledged he wasn’t sure if he would marry again.
Bryton, who played Richie Crawford on Family Matters, also said he doesn’t want to have children. “I’ve learned a lot about myself and how I feel about children. It’s something that I’ve always kind of known that I didn’t want to have children, but it wasn’t something that has been as concrete as it is now.”
