Megan Thee Stallion abruptly quit her Broadway show, “Moulin Rouge: The Musical!,” after her PR stunt with “boyfriend” Klay Thompson backfired.

The “WAP” rapper broke down in tears on stage during a performance, before announcing she is quitting the show to focus on herself.

The relationship between Megan and Klay was doomed from the start. Most celebrity watchers said they were a manufactured couple. There was very little chemistry between them. And Megan seemed to wear the pants in the relationship. That’s always a bad sign.

Megan announced their “breakup” in an Instagram Story on Saturday. She accused the promiscuous NBA star of cheating on her.

“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet’ Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? bitch I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall.”

In a statement to PEOPLE, the Grammy winner said she decided to cut ties with the Dallas Mavericks star.

“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” she said. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”

Hours later, Megan broke down in tears on stage. She played the role of Harold Zidler, a nightclub owner, in the Broadway show that was scheduled to continue through May 17.

In a new post on Instagram, Megan explained that she couldn’t go on.

“Hotties, my last performance as Zidler in @moulinrougebway will be May 1. It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater!” she wrote.

WNBA player Lexie Brown, who was dragged into Megan and Klay’s drama, said she had nothing to do with their “breakup.”

“I’ve seen what’s being said online and I want to be clear, none of it is true and I have no involvement in this situation,” the Seattle Storm guard wrote on her Instagram Stories on Sunday.

She added, “This week marks the start of an important and exciting new season for me, and my focus is fully on that.”
