Rapper Lil Tjay (left) was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a shooting incident involving rapper Offset (right).
Tjay (born Tione Merritt) was arrested Monday evening after fighting outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Offset was shot in his butt during the fracas. It isn’t clear who did the shooting.
Tjay was booked into the Broward County Jail on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, according to TMZ. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office released a mugshot of the smiling 24-year-old rapper. He was given a $500 bond.
The shooting incident happened moments after Offset posed for selfies with fans on Monday, April 6.
“We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored,” a rep for Offset told Page Six.
Offset, real name Kiari Cephus, 34, was shot in the valet area of the casino.
Offset is currently in stable condition at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. Rumors spread on social media that Tjay shot Offset in the butt during a “domestic violence incident.”
Offset reportedly has a gambling addiction and Tjay allegedly loaned the Migos rapper $10,000.
Lil Tjay’s representative denies he shot his friend.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which [resulted] in non-life-threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, wrote in a press release.
Florio continued, “Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
Offset is the estranged husband of rapper Cardi B, with whom he shares three children. (He also has three children from previous relationships.)
Cardi filed for divorce from Offset in August 2024 after rumors of infidelity.
In November 2025, Cardi B welcomed a son with NFL player and ex-fiancé Stefon Diggs, who was recently let go by the New England Patriots.
Stefon is currently an unsigned free agent. He has 8 children by multiple women.
