David Anthony Burke, known as singer D4vd, won a major court ruling on Wednesday, June 17. A judge granted D4vd’s request for a delay in his case.
The judge’s ruling is the third postponement of his probable cause hearing, where prosecutors are set to introduce more evidence to warrant a jury trial. D4vd thanked the judge for pushing his probable cause hearing until July 21, according to Vibe.
“Thank you, your honor,” D4vd said before he was led out of the courtroom in shackles. His lead defense lawyer, Blair Berk, was in the courtroom, but his other lead attorney, Marilyn Bednarski, did not attend, according to Vibe.
The “Romantic Homicide” singer, 21, is accused of killing and dismembering his former girlfriend Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was 14 at the time. Police discovered her remains in bags in the trunk of his Tesla in September 2025.

D4vd was arrested by the LAPD and charged with first-degree murder in April 2026. He is currently being held without bond at a Los Angeles County jail.
In a hearing on April 29, prosecutors unsealed evidence that shows D4vd (and possibly an accomplice) parked his Tesla around the corner from his West Hollywood rental house before leaving on tour in August 2025.
“For several weeks, or possibly months, defendants left the victim’s body to decompose inside his Tesla. He lied to friends, business associates, and others who noticed the strong smell of decay in and around his home and vehicle,” the prosecution said.

The court filing claimed D4vd met Celeste when she was only 11-years-old on Roblox. He started an inappropriate relationship with her when she turned 13.
Before she was killed, authorities visited D4vd‘s rental and informed him that Celeste was an underage runaway. D4vd denied knowing she was underage or a runaway. However, he “continued to pursue” Celeste, prosecutors said. He allegedly paid a classmate $1,000 to give Celeste a secret iPhone so they could stay in touch.
They allegedly exchanged text messages about pregnancy, abortion and Plan B before she died.
