Atlanta police released audio of the 911 call placed by Emma Clark after she found the mutilated body of her life partner, Katherine Janness, in Piedmont Park.
Clark went to look for Janness when the 40-year-old bartender failed to return home after walking their dog, Bowie.
Clark used a mobile app to ping Janness’ phone, and she noticed the phone was not moving inside Piedmont Park.
Janness and Bowie were found about 50 yards inside the park after 1 a.m. on July 28.
Atlanta Police released audio to 11Alive News of the 911 call from Clark, who assumed Bowie had been hit by a car.
Then she noticed Janness’ body, “maybe 100 feet away” from where Bowie lay dead.
“I ran up to her, I tried to feel for a pulse but it was clear that she was gone,” Clark told the 911 dispatcher. “I turned around and I just ran out of the park. It was dark, and I didn’t know what was going on. I was terrified and shocked. That’s when I called the cops immediately.”
But suspicions were raised when Clark seemed to dehumanize Janness during her call to 911.
Speaking to another person at the scene, Clark said, “Did you just see that? That’s my f***ing girlfriend.”
At another point during the call, Clark told the dispatcher, “Oh my god. Like, she’s dead, dead.”
Twitter users noted how “calm” Clark sounded, considering the circumstances.
One Twitter user wrote: “ok… did y’all listen to the 911 call from katherine janness’s stabbing in piedmont?? why am i suspicious of the gf now.”

Atlanta police released photos and videos of six “witnesses” who were in the park that night around the time of Janness’ murder.
Police are eager to speak with those witnesses to determine if they saw or heard anything. They are not considered suspects.
At a press conference this week, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms insisted there is no evidence that a serial killer is on the loose in Atlanta.
