Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s 17-year-old son was beaten and robbed outside the mayor’s Lakeview home Friday night, CBS Chicago reports.
According to a police report obtained by CBS Chicago, Rahm’s son Zach was walking outside his family home at about 10:05 p.m. Friday when he was approached by two men. One of the men put him in a chokehold while the other punched Zach in his face before rifling through his pockets.
According to Fox News one of the men forced Zach to enter a security code to unlock his phone before they fled the scene.
Zach sustained facial bruises and a chipped front tooth in the beating. He was treated for his injuries and was able to travel with his family on a long-planned trip.
From CBS Local:
Police were called to the 4200 block of North Hermitage at 10:05 p.m. Friday for a report of a robbery on the street where there would normally already be a police presence.
Emanuel’s 17-year-old son went out to make a phone call when he was jumped by two men who stole the teen’s cell phone.
Police officers are assigned to the mayor’s home front and back 24 hours a day. There are also cameras at both ends of the block.
Dan Hill lives on the block. Hill says he’s seen an increased police presence on the block Saturday.
“There’s been at least one more paddy wagon out here this morning and, just a couple unmarked cars up and down the street,” Hill said. “Usually there’s just two, one in front and one in the back.”
No arrest has been made in the robbery.
