I found a new guy myself. Had all the screening copies. Nice, clear and crisp. Selma was good
Here the bigger question: Why do we give so much weight to their opinion? If I were making movies Id only care about the box office. However; most producers pray for awards becuase it helps ticket and DVD sales.
But I think we ought to stop looking for our films to be approved by people who can not care less to even watch them, let alone vote for them. Like comedienne Mo’nique said Winning an Oscar for us is different from when they win them.

We have our own group of award ceremonies. Imagine Awards, Trumpet Awards, etc., and mayb we lag in creativity and production compared to these shows, but really, it boils down to $$$. If money wasn’t tied into winning an award why are they so important.
Because if you ask me every year there is room for more than one black nominee, in multiple categories. But then again, maybe not. Not a lot of blacks work technical jobs in Hollywood.
I think these paltry nominations for blacks are just simple industry appeasements. Denzel could have won for something other than a thug, and there are more talented black women other Halle Berry with acclaim worth acting chops.

To me, the Oscars are synonymous to People Magazine’s “Best Looking Man/ Woman” of the year. Everything is about what they think. They don’t have it in them to naturally open to different cultures. And the key word here is “naturally”. Their recogniztion comes off forced, or contemptuous.

I love Crochet braids, they make your hair grow. I used to do them myself when I cut my hair short. I added color in the front and they are easy to manage. I washed my braids and grease scalp. Mine lasted for 3 months!!

You know, Ciara could NEVER sing. She came out with songs with catchy beats and what not. Like goodies. She was not even singing in that song she was “talking in a tune” other than the chorus and she had background singers to help her. then you had 1 2 step she was singing and rapping on that damn song. I NEVER saw longevity for her. HOWEVER she could open up a dance and choreography studio and perhaps make a killing
