The final episode of Fox TV’s record-breaking hip hop soap opera ‘Empire’ is set to air on Wednesday (Mar. 18). Siblings Jamal (Jussie Smollet) and Hakeem Lyons (Bryshere Y. Gray) share a mutual hatred for their father, shady record executive Lucious Lyons (Terrence Howard.
During last week’s episode, “Sins of the Father,” Lucious revealed his dark family secret: that he slept with Jamal’s jump off Olivia (Raven-Symone), and that he, not Jamal, was the father of Olivia’s daughter Lola (Leah Jeffries).
After learning that the little girls he thought was his daughter was actually his sister, Jamal still defended Lucious to Hakeem.
“At this time, it’s like, ‘How many times can Lucious Lyon show that he ain’t shit?’,” said Jamal. “At this point, are we really surprised by the kinds of things Lucious does? We’re not shocked!”
Smollet told The Hollywood Reporter, “Jamal is also very zen in his anger and very much has his eyes on the prize at this point. He’s smart. He knows what he’s doing!”
